About Dog Food Reviewed

Dog Food Reviewed is an independent UK website that scores dog food from its label. Every food gets one number out of 100, and every point is shown on the food’s page so you can check our sums.

What we do

  • Score each food from its label: the ingredient list, the analysis and the additives.
  • Show prices from UK retailers, per kg or per day for your dog.
  • Help you find foods by type, main protein, life stage and ingredients to leave out.

How scores work

A score comes from four questions about the recipe: how much meat, how much starch, how processed, and what kind of meat. Ingredients of concern then take points off. Dry, wet, raw and fresh foods are all on the same 0 to 100 scale, and the score never reads price, commission or brand.

Where the data comes from

Ingredients, nutrition and prices come from public product pages at UK retailers and, for some foods, the maker’s own website. We keep a dated copy of each source, and check each record against other published information before it appears. If a source doesn’t say something, we show “Not on label” instead of guessing.

How we’re funded

We plan to fund the site through retailer affiliate links. If you buy through a link marked as an affiliate link, the retailer may pay us a commission, and you pay no more. Commission can’t change a score, a ranking or which foods are shown, and brands can’t pay for a score or a place in a list.

How often it’s updated

We aim to re-check prices and stock every week, then publish a new set of data once it has passed our automatic safety checks. If an update can’t run or fails a check, the site keeps showing the previous data until the next one. Each price shows the date we saw it, and food pages show when the label was last checked.

Labels change, and we can misread one. Tell us through the report form and we’ll check it against the source before we change a page. We can’t promise a reply time.
